Bridges to Independence (Bridges) leads individuals and families out of homelessness and into stable, independent futures. Bridges operates Arlington County's largest emergency family shelter, provides housing, workforce development, financial empowerment, and a youth development program for families in need. This year, Bridges celebrates 35 years of helping well over 15,000 families in our community from Alexandria, Arlington, and surrounding communities.
Our organization works each day to make a difference in our community, and we need your support to further that change. Consider #GivingTuesday a chance to become a #BridgeBuilder, helping bridge hope for families and children experiencing homelessness in our local area.
Right now, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are seeing that our shelter needs items such as soap, cleaning supplies, personal health items, healthy kid snacks, and non-perishable foods more than ever. Outside of our emergency shelter, we have been covering 90% to 100% of our families' rent since the start of the pandemic. We have spent nearly all of our allotted funds for rent in our current fiscal year, and we have many more months to go. During this crisis, we know that community is more important now than ever before. This is why we need to think local, act local, and give local. We need your help so that we can continue to serve the families in our shelter and keep our families in their homes.
At this critical and challenging time, we need your support and generosity now. That's why we're inviting you to make a difference, close to home. You can donate right now to support our work in your community. Your donation will go to purchasing essential supplies and keeping our families in their homes. You can make a difference today. Your support makes a big impact.
