Lisa Brown-Huerta

Transplant Type: Kidney

What if you were living on borrowed time?

Lisa suffers from polycystic kidney disease (PKD), a hereditary disorder that caused multiple cysts to form on her kidneys. Lisa has six brothers, and three of them also suffer from the disease. The cysts have damaged her liver, and doctors say a kidney and liver transplant is critical to her survival. Two of her brothers have already received kidney transplants, and Lisa has been on the transplant waiting list for two years.

This single mother of four is surrounded by love and support from her large family who keeps her laughing. Lisa's strong faith keeps her grounded and focused on a positive future. Although they try to remain optimistic, her family is extremely concerned about her health. Because her illness depletes so much of her energy, she is unable to participate in as many family activities as she would like. Her son recently said, "I can't wait to have my mom back." More than anything, she looks forward to returning to her normal lifestyle and spending many healthy years with her family.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Lisa.

If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT California Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Lisa Brown-Huerta” in the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
