As someone who went to camp for 12+ years, I know how important and transformational it can be. Going to camp is what made me into the person I am proud to be today. It helped me to develop as a teammate, a communicator and a problem solver. Most importantly it gave me the opportunity to meet amazing people who I can call on without hesitation and whom I would drop anything for. I’ve been welcomed into homes in London, Austin, Denver, LA, Toronto and more.

One of my students just got accepted to a summer camp and needs help with the tuition. She is such an awesome kid. She is a leader and helps make the classroom inclusive by creating opportunities for students with support needs to be independent. She checks in on peers and adults alike and showed me pictures of smushy cat faces when I was having a bad day.  I am so excited to see her world open up with all of the things she will learn, all of the experiences she will have and all of the people she will meet. This camp can open so many doors for her and open her mind to new possibilities.

The camp she will be going to is called “Live Oak” and is such an amazing program.

“In the last three years our camp has connected a diverse community of more than 500 outstanding kids from 60 public, private, and independent schools across New Orleans...We start with the magic of summer camp and infuse it with leadership development programming to connect a racially and socioeconomically community of kids who otherwise would have limited avenues to meet as peers and friends. After camp we continue to invest in  relationships with one another through three Live Oak reunion events back in New Orleans throughout the fall and spring. “

Let’s help her have the experience so many of us enjoyed in our youth!
