TeamMates has once again partnered with LPS Wellness for Sneaker September. Step into the new year in style and comfort while supporting a great cause!

With a $10 (or more) donation to TeamMates Mentoring Program, Lincoln Public Schools staff are allowed to wear jeans and sneakers to work on every Friday in September, 2018.

When asked what company or organization you are affiliated with, please indicate your school or department so that we know where to send your Sneaker September participation button.

Lincoln TeamMates is a school-based mentoring program with the mission to positively impact the world by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring.

TeamMates mentors are volunteers from the community who meet with their mentees once a week at school throughout the academic year. They spend one class period each week listening, playing games, creating crafts, or participating in sports activities with their mentee. During their time together, the student is the center of positive attention. The objective is to encourage the child and give a sense of hope, purpose and vision. Mentors serve as good role models and dedicate themselves making a difference in the life of a young person.

All of us face challenges in life. Students with a strong, stable adult presence in their life over an extended period of time are more easily able to rise above challenges. Feelings of hope, well-being and engagement are predictors of success.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Make A Financial Contribution: While Lincoln’s cost is below the national average, it takes an investment of approximately $500 annually to provide a mentor for a student.

Become A Mentor: Lincoln TeamMates vision is to serve 1,400 matches by June 2018.
