Lucas's Only Family Dumped Him at a Shelter

Lucas has done everything right over the past 4 years.  He has loved his only family, doted on the children in the house and got along with all the other dogs.  Despite being as good of a boy as he could be, his family still decided to drop him off at a scary rural VA shelter and drive away.  Infested with fleas and depressed  because he had been abandoned, Lucas now spends his days confused and wondering when his family will come back for him.  Unfortunately, we know that they are not coming to get him and his only hope at getting a new family is if Homeward Trails steps in.  Lucas will make a new family so very happy, but we need to get him to the DC area as soon as possible.  Sponsor his journey to his new life and not only make Lucas a happy boy but a new future owner happy too!
