Camperships For Camp Not-A-Wheeze

For the past 19 years I have been a Volunteer with Camp Not-A-Wheeze. I began my volunteeringas a Respiratory Therapist Medical Volunteer.  Three years ago I joined the Board of Directors.  I have been truly passionate about camp for several reasons.  The most important being the education provided to the children on how to live with and managethrie Asthma enabling them to just enjoy being a kid.  In addition to Asthma education each day, children can enjoy all the activities of a regular camp for a week.  Many of these children do not go away from their family because of the severity of their Asthma.  Many are unable to afford to go away to a camp. They believed they could not do the activities like others such as hiking,  play sports, horseback riding or being outside for long periods. At Camp they learn how to recognize their symptoms, how to properly do treatments thereby enabling them to do these things.

Over the many years of attending camp it is so wonderful to see all these children enjoying things which they had thought they could not. The bonding that takes place with other kids with Asthma and the happiness on their faces tells a wonderful story by itself.

I am asking you for your support in donation to provide the money for Camperships, as many of the children are from lower income families whose parents would otherwise not be able to send their children without the financial assistance.
