Lyla and Beauty are lucky to be alive! They are living in Puerto Rico just now, where dogs are frequently discarded and tossed aside. Treated as "less than." Their story is no different. But in this case, it was their mom who was thrown out of a car onto the animals shelter's front lawn. She was visibly pregnant and confused about why she was being left behind.
As the owner drove away, Mom chased after the car. Wanting to catch up, to go home. She chased the car as long as she could--running into traffic, unaware of the danger. Luckily, a man was there to witness the whole thing and swooped in to rescue the mom-to-be before the worst could happen.
Soon, Mom gave birth to 5 puppies! Mom and 3 of the puppies have been adopted. Now it's time for Lyla and Beauty to find their forever home.
These two little girls are Shih Tzu mixes, about 8 weeks old. There are so few positive outcomes for dogs like them in Puerto Rico. That's why we want to bring them here, and help them find the perfect family to call their own!
