We have a goal of having 1,000 donors pledge at least $100 each to our cause this year.

You can JOIN THE THOUSAND in multiple ways:

  • Sign up for a recurring donation of as little as $10 per month.
  • Make a one-time donation of at least $100.

When you join our Thousand Strong, you ensure that we can continue to serve young men and women of Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester County by:

  • Introducing them to positive mentors to build relationships to model positive behaviors/attitudes will allow them to become active leaders in their communities.
  • Providing positive opportunities and activities that introduce them to learning about college, careers, and other options available to them while also preparing them for life after high school.
  • Teaching them about the importance of healthy living and choices, including positive relationships, reproductive health, avoidance of substance abuse, and criminal activity.

Lowcountry Youth Services has launched our 2021-2022 Annual Giving Campaign! We are excited to be able to serve our community once again! As we prepare for the upcoming Club Year, we ask that you consider us for your one-time or recurring gift! Every dollar put into Lowcountry Youth Services goes directly toward ensuring that we create meaningful solutions for our young people of color in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester County!

DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMEN'S CLUB

The Distinguished Gentlemen's Club (DGC) is a mentoring initiative created to guide young men through manhood transitions via the building of positive mentor relationships, servant leadership, and goal-setting practices. Our small group mentoring model teaches our mentees skills that lead to social and self-awareness, self-advocacy, conflict resolution, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills.

Our organization seeks to:

  • Introduce the young men to positive mentors to build relationships to model positive behaviors/attitudes, which will allow them to become active leaders in their communities.
  • Provide positive opportunities and activities that introduce young men to learning about college, careers, and other options available to them while also preparing them for life after high school.
  • Teach young men about the importance of healthy living and choices to including positive relationships and reproductive health, avoidance of substance abuse, and criminal activity.

Queen's Being

"Queens Being'' is a mentoring program that Lowcountry Youth Services established to teach and build young women, ages 11-14, by providing a positive community of belonging for young women of color.

We will provide:

  • Exceptional enrichment and leadership development opportunities to young women of color in the greater Tri-Country area will allow them to become leaders who positively change their communities.
  • Mentorship via small group cohorts allows young women of color to create and mold their own purpose/identity through unique experiences.
  • Intentional activities and conversations allow young women of color to identify risk behaviors that could result in sexual reproductive health and dating violence issues.

In Queens Being, young women will find their voices, gain skills, develop self-confidence, expand creative expression, explore educational and career pathways, and construct strong bonds within a multigenerational and intercultural community.

YOUNG MEN RISE

Young Men Rise is a strengths-based in-school approach to mentorship intended to cultivate a social environment that effectively competes with young men's risk-taking norms and meets their most critical needs for belonging, self-worth, competency, acceptance, purpose, and meaningful identities. Mentors are assigned to elementary and middle schools to develop young men from 9-13 years old.

This program uses the evidence-based curriculum created by The Council for Boys and Young Men Research in addition to the experience that Lowcountry Youth Services has gained in the field of youth development since its inception in 2010.

Young Men Rise provides an inclusive environment that honors cultural, family, and spiritual beliefs and incorporates cultural practices in the program.

In the 2021-2022 school year, Lowcountry Youth Services will have Young Men Rise Cohorts in nine schools in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester District Two School Districts.
