The MAAC Admission team manages intake for an average of 150 youth each month across the entire state of Georgia, most of whom have urgent needs related to placement, education, mental health, and overall well-being.

MAAC's Admission staff assesses the program histories and stories of our youth, including their challenging concerns and behaviors, and presents them compassionately to the program staff who will be working with them as they enter MAAC. Our team is responsible for assessing their needs accurately and effectively so they can be connected to the right placement, providers, and services.

The Admissions Team goes above and beyond for youth in big and small ways -

  • Recently, when a youth new to MAAC entered the program, her first assessment was scheduled with the foster parent - but what the team didn't know was that the date in question was the youth's birthday! When the assessment coordinator arrived, the youth was upset and couldn't focus on the task because she felt her special day had been forgotten.  MAAC ordered cupcakes and had them delivered to her home so she could be celebrated!
  • The youth we work with aren't given a choice about coming into foster care, so the Admissions Team coordinates pre-placement visits that go above and beyond to provide youth with an opportunity to exercise their voice and choice in the process. We make every effort possible to give youth at least two options for placement so they can make a choice about which one they'd prefer to live in.
  • Often, the Admissions Team is supporting youth who have a child of their own, and must work collaboratively to find the placement that best supports the needs of both mom and baby.
  • When a youth comes to MAAC from a temporary placement, Admissions is dedicated to ensuring they receive the resources they need to be able to experience success in a safe and stable home.

Receiving additional support could aid in purchasing extra supports #BEYOND our normal capacity such as:

  • Welcome baskets for youth entering a new placement
  • Art supplies and other therapeutic activities
  • Hair and hygiene products that may be lost in a move
  • A toy or comfort item for a youth that's struggling
  • A suitcase or duffel bag for their personal belongings
  • Laptops and other supplies for success in school
  • Replacing medications or clothing when needed
  • Placement partnership engagement and support

Can you go beyond to help us reach our Giving Tuesday goal for youth in foster care? Thank you!
