$1,000 goal

At the age of eighteen, I began displaying symptoms of a chronic, debilitating illness. With health insurance I accrued thousands of dollars in debt, simply to stay alive. When I lost my health insurance, I had to stop attending the weekly appointments that kept my symptoms at bay because it cost more for a fifteen-minute session than I made in a week. That is the state of health care in this country: working-class people can not afford the simplest of care, the regular treatments that can make the difference between functionality and constant pain.

Until finding the Vermont Worker’s Center, I felt helpless. I felt as though I was alone in this battle against an uncaring system. With the VWC I’ve found my own power through the strength of the community around me. It is with the VWC that I organized individuals in my community struggling with the same unmet needs and felt as though I was finally moving forward. Together we can only move forward. Together we are fighting to ensure that students, single mothers, full-time workers, teachers, veterans, and all members of our community have access to life-saving care.  Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal so that this work can continue; work done by the community for the community. Any donation, no matter how small, will help us educate our organizers, fund our community events, and spread the message that health care is a human right.
