Morris is an 8 year old declawed orange tabby. He’s faced adversity most of his life but you wouldn’t know it from his sweet, loving and cuddly nature. We don’t know too much about his original owner other than he had Morris declawed and then relinquished him to a shelter when he was 2-3 years old. HT pulled Morris into our care 6 years ago.  Being young, declawed and an orange tabby, Morris was adopted very quickly after coming into our rescue program. The couple that adopted him was older and despite regular vet visits they were unable to get his diarrhea under control (he is very difficult to medicate).  Over the six years they owned him, Morris continued to lose weight and became sicker year after year. In August Morris was returned to Homeward Trails.   At this point, Morris is in bad shape. He has scarring in his colon and thickening of his intestines due to the prolonged diarrhea. He has pancreatitis and IBD (irritable bowl disease). He has severe renal disease and hypertension as result. He will be on prescription food and meds for the rest of his life. We are working closely with a vet to manage Morris’s medical challenges but he has a very long and difficult road ahead.
Despite all this, Morris remains a total love. He loves to sit in the sun and look out the window but mostly he just wants to be with people. Morris loves laps and is contented to sit on your lap and get pets all day long.
