A Historic Opportunity
Greetings from the United Arab Emirates, where the Lord has opened the door for an extraordinary ministry opportunity.
The Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, has granted land to the United Christian Church of Dubai (UCCD) for the establishment of an evangelical church center in the middle of the Muslim world. There is presently no recognized evangelical church in that emirate.
This is an historic opportunity to establish a gospel-centered evangelical church to be a platform for gospel work among the many people groups represented in this emirate.
Ras Al Khaimah’s Strategic Location
Fifty percent of the emirate’s population is Emirati. Situated at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula makes RAK a strategic location for both a church and a regional ministry training center.
RAK Evangelical Church
In February 2013, UCCD planted the RAK Evangelical Church. Together with church-planting Pastor Josh Manley, a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Kentucky, and his wife Jenny, UCCD has sent out five other married couples to help in the establishment of this evangelical church. Other believers already living in RAK have formed the nucleus of this new church plant.
Since its launch, the church plant has been meeting in a public convention center for regular Friday church services. For the first time in perhaps 2000 years, the gospel of Jesus Christ is being faithfully proclaimed in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
Arabian Peninsula Evangelical Church Center (APECC)
With the firm belief that the church consists of the assembly of God’s people, why expend effort and resources in a building?
In this part of the world, a building provides for legitimacy in the eyes of the authorities. It also gives much needed stability and long-term effectiveness for the evangelical churches meeting there. Moreover, it ensures visibility, serving as a place where seekers can come in contact with Christians.
The vision for this church center is that it will not only be a catalyst for unity and strengthening for the congregations meeting there, but that it will also serve as a training center and ministry hub for evangelistic work occurring in the other nearby emirates as well as the Arabian Peninsula at large.
In addition to serving the congregation, the building in RAK will also provide scope for:
- Meeting space for non-english speaking churches (Arab, Filipino, Chinese, Indian)
- Pastoral training for ministers & students from the region
- Seminars for house-church leaders from closed countries
- Regional conferences for pastors and church leaders
A Significant Partnership
We are looking for partners who will join us to fund the building of this extraordinarily strategic church and ministry training center. A team of engineers, financial advisors, and architects with experience in the region has already been assembled.
Ground breaking for the church building is planned for spring, 2014 with a project completion date of March - April, 2015.
