Margarita Patiño Herrera
Transplant Type: Kidney
Margarita Patiño is fighting for her life. Margarita has been diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease. Her illness has progressed over the years and she now requires dialysis which takes quite a toll on her quality of life and leaves her very tired. Her doctors now say a kidney transplant is critical.
Margarita looks forward to freedom from dialysis and feeling better after receiving a transplant. More than anything, she wants to live a normal, healthy life and have quality time with her family and friends. She would love to once again be healthy enough to do something as simple as cleaning her house, but right now, she needs your help.
The average kidney transplant costs approximately $415,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they are as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Margarita. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W.
