YOLO FOOD BANK AND HOLIDAY MEAL KIT INFORMATION
For 50 years, Yolo Food Bank has elevated the common good for the people and communities of Yolo County by fighting food insecurity. The COVID-19 crisis has increased demand for food assistance in Yolo County by more than 60%, and Yolo Food Bank is responding, distributing approximately 800,000 pounds of food countywide per month. This year, more than ever, the pandemic has put the holidays at risk in Yolo County. In response, Yolo Food Bank has worked with partners throughout the community to ensure that all families in need receive the food needed to prepare and share in the tradition of a holiday meal by creating Winter Holiday Meal Kits. Our Winter Holiday Meal Kits include a turkey, an assortment of fresh, seasonal produce and other classic fixings to offer sustenance and comfort during the season celebrating generosity and gratitude. Your assistance ensures every family in Yolo County can participate in the holidays this especially difficult year.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FUND DRIVES VS FOOD DRIVES
Thank you, Marshall Crossing residents, for your interest to support Yolo Food Bank during these challenging times that we are all experiencing. The pandemic has few silver linings, but one of them is the opportunity to speak with the community more frankly about food drives. Not only are they incongruent with COVID-19 safety protocols, they are not the most effective way to ensure food access for the rising numbers of Yolo County residents facing food insecurity.
Fund drives, however, provide resources more cost-effectively and less labor-intensively. Every $1 donated becomes $5.50 in wholesale food value at Yolo Food Bank, and provides us with the flexibility to source healthy FRESH foods. No canned food purchased at retail price at the grocery store, or hiding in the back of a well-intended donor's kitchen cabinet, can compare in impact; we invite you to see and share the image below with your neighbors, friends, and family.
You and your inspiring enthusiasm are the FUN in a FUNd Drive that can change lives and save lives for neighbors in need in Yolo County during this unprecedented holiday season!
