Matthew Lynn Porter
Transplant Type: Heart and Liver
Update: Matthew received his transplants on March 24, 2019!
Matthew Porter is awaiting a new lease on life. He was born with a congenital heart disease and over the years has required three open heart surgeries. His illness leaves him very tired and takes a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a heart and liver transplant is critical.
During this difficult time, Matthew is grateful for the love and support of his wife, Meghan, and their family and friends. Matthew and Meghan have two sons, ages seven and two, and Matthew’s health prevents him from being the active husband and father he longs to be. He looks forward to receiving a transplant so he can have the energy to lead a full life with his family and take part in the activities he once enjoyed, like fishing, camping, and golfing. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can have more time with his wife and kids. But right now, he needs your help.
The average heart and liver transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Matthew still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. Matthew had to stop working due to his declining health, further adding to his financial burdens.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Matthew. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Matthew Porter” on the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
