Does NOT have Cushings!
We're relieved to share that Meatball's bloodwork came back PERFECT and he does not have Cushing's disease. However, his teeth are REALLY bad and he definitely needs a dental before things get any worse. We can't imagine the pain he must be in every day, with a mouth full of rotting and broken teeth. How much he must be suffering and keeping from us.
We can't schedule his dental though, until we have enough money raised to cover his procedure. Can you help?
We're worried this goofy pup may have Cushing's Syndrome, a condition which results when a dog's body makes too much of a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol is helpful in controlling weight and fighting infections, but too much and it can cause serious problems. Sometimes Cushing's can be caused by an overactive gland or even a tumor! We know something is off, but we won't know how to help poor Meatball without bloodwork and additional vet care.
Meatball's teeth are also showing his age! This senior boy is years overdue for a good dental cleaning! Who knows the pain he must be in, day in and day out. Sore gums and rotting teeth, making every moment uncomfortable. Making it almost impossible to eat!
Left unchecked, dental disease can travel to the heart and cause even more severe problems--something all too uncommon in senior dogs that have been neglected and gone without such critical care. Dental disease is painful. Dental disease can kill. That's why we must act now to help poor Meatball.
