Who doesn't like a challenge? Sharks, hill after hill after hill after hill after hill, finish with sand stairs...easy as pie. I like pie.

After cheering on Big Dave for the last two years I have the itch to take on the infamous and grueling Escape from Alcatraz. In order to make sure I see the finish line I decided to put some skin in the game (hopefully not on the road), and raise money for an amazing organization, Real Options For City Kids (R.O.C.K.)

R.O.C.K. serves a community in San Francisco called Visitation Valley, one that is plagued by violence and poverty and is often in the media for negative reasons. R.O.C.K. is in the business of providing positive opportunities for children of all ages so that they have a better chance of succeeding later in life. The fact that the organization has a big focus on sports and fitness ties directly into hosting a team of triathletes to push their bodies and minds to the limit. To learn more about R.O.C.K. be sure to visit www.rocksf.org.

The 2016 Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon features a 1.5-mile swim through frigid waters from Alcatraz Island to the shores of the St. Francis Yacht Club, a grueling 18-mile bike ride, and a demanding 8-mile run through the trails of the Golden Gate Recreational Area. Set against the natural beauty of San Francisco, this thrilling triathlon is a virtual postcard of the City by the Bay.

Please help me support this great cause while I try not to die climbing the sand stairs (pictured above) on the home stretch of the race...It's for the kids!
