She was stabbed 30 times, a stapler taken to her wounds, her extremities were mangled and cut leading to an amputation. Starvation, abuse and evil was all she knew until a group of angels on this Earth saved her from the meat trade ring, giving her another shot, a new life, free from the painful and fatal chains that had bound her. For the first time ever, she felt hope. This is the story of our beloved rescue Husky, Sita. (AKA: MamaSita, Sita Mita, Sita Mita Pita, CC, Hi-C)

Karuna Rescue (China) and Bunny’s Buddies (San Diego) posted Sita’s pictures on Instagram over a year ago in December 2019. I’m not sure if it was their claim of her being one of the worst cases of abuse they’d ever witnessed or just something about her beautiful but sorrowful brown eyes..I knew she was special and that I wanted to help. Her medical needs required surgeries, laser treatments, rehabilitation and costly medicines. Being non profits, Karuna Rescue and Bunny’s Buddies can only facilitate these needs with the aid of donations so I set up a monthly donation to help with Sita’s road to recovery.

On November 8th, 2020, almost a year after I first saw her photo, we welcomed our little miracle pup off a 50+ hour flight from China along with 19 other pups saved from the meat trade market and abusive situations in China. It was a moment in time that touched our hearts in an unfathomable way. After a horrific life of knocking on death’s door, to watch these pups set foot onto American soil and into loving arms of safety, commitment and a second chance was something we will never forget.

Donating time and money toward these two organizations has become a passion of mine. The irony is that we thought we were helping them when we helped with Sita’s recovery, however, the qualities she has shown us in the past three months have taught our family so much: Hope, trust, resiliency and unconditional love. Having gone through the Stark Naked process once before, I know it requires patience, determination, commitment and at times can be painful in different ways. These animals will be my motivating reminder to keep going, trust the process and have faith..all in the hope of more and better!

Please join me in supporting and giving back toward these two incredible organizations and their endless mission to continue enabling these happy tails!!
