Stage One – I See ME Free
Stage one begins while incarcerated. All charges and sentence lengths are eligible. Stage one has four phases, each consisting of therapeutic interventions with critical thinking, cognitive behavior, and the (TREM) Trauma Recovery Empowerment Model combined with biblical specialties; additional financial training; etiquette training; dreams, gifts and skill building; and a workbook that each mentee completes with a mentor who has been interest-matched to them. They spend approximately 12-18 months to complete all four workbooks.
- Mentors are required to make weekly contact by mail, email, biweekly cards, monthly physical visitations or video visitations, and two packages per year. Package options include shoes, clothing, hygiene products, or food.
- At intake, we obtain personal and family history of drug use, abuse, and other criminal activities. We also provide a transitional plan assessment asking if they have required documentation such as a Social Security Card, a Driver’s License, and a Birth Certificate, and help them obtain it.
- We evaluate each mentee’s financial situation and support system.
- At intake and after each phase, completion assessments are conducted to do measurable outcomes to monitor improvements for: Empathy, Critical Thinking, Social Competence, Conflict Resolution, Civic Participation, and much more.
- Every 30 days each mentee takes wellness and program participation evaluations.
- Every mentee is required to report all disciplinary actions and must turn in a printed disciplinary report from their counselor.
- 90 days prior to expected release each mentee updates their transitional plan to ensure that a safe and crime-free environment is available to them, and if not, we assist them in achieving this outcome.
