SOS!!! We have a desperate situation and it's all hands on deck! A local resident passed away and left 41 cats in the house. After she died these poor kitties were kicked out and left to fend for themselves. Animal control reached out for help with the situation and by the time we arrived these poor babies were SICK and they were STARVING.
We have started feeding them in order to trap them, but the property owners won't allow them to come back. We can't just trap and neuter them all at once because there is nowhere for them all to go. They are terrified, but we are hoping that with patience and food (they are SO hungry) we will be able to teach them that it's okay to love humans again.
So we are working on plan B, which is to trap them in
small batches and take them to our local vet partners at Galax Veterinary Clinic to get them spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested, and treated for any medical issues. They will also assess them for adoptability, and we will move them, one by one, to rescue partners throughout the state (Tiny Tigers has already stepped up).
Anything you can provide will help - we desperately need money for their medical bills (you can donate through here or on Facebook or give money directly to Galax Vet for the Mercy Colony fund). We also need dry cat food to keep them fed as this process will take a long time. You can drop food donations off at Galax Vet or Carroll Vet.
Thank you - we will get this done with your help!
