Multicultural & International Student Orientation

MULTICULTURAL & INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION

Each year we welcome first-year multicultural and international students to Messiah’s campus. Research undoubtedly shows that students of color can thrive on a predominantly white campus if they feel a sense of belonging to their community, and the best way to do that is by welcoming these students to campus early. 

The Multicultural and International Students Programs (MISP) Office hosts a multiple-day orientation filled with informative sessions, opportunities to connect with educators and peers and a chance to foster this special sense of belonging on Messiah’s campus.

The higher education landscape is changing, and the number of students of color on our campus continues to increase. As we welcome an increasingly diverse generation of students, this orientation helps us carry out Messiah’s mission of reconciling with all people and becoming a hospitable community to all students.

In the midst of cultural and social change, the MISP Office continues to distinguish itself as an important resource for multicultural and international students on campus. This fund will be used to support and facilitate the continuation of Multicultural and International Student Orientation for the years to come. 

WAYS YOUR GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE:

• $500 = an outing/activity (i.e. bowling) for first-year international students
• $250 = catering for the Multicultural Coffeehouse
• $50 = a ride to and from Harrisburg Airport for international arrivals
• $30 = catered breakfast for three first-year students and their family members
• $25 = printed supplies/folders for incoming multicultural & international students
• $15 = a welcome basket for a first-year international student
• $10 = a t-shirt for a first-year multicultural or international student
