Sustainability at Messiah

During the spring, we celebrate the growth and renewal of the earth. We are committed to improving our sustainability practices, and there is hardly a better way for you to contribute to Messiah’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint than giving to the Office of Sustainability.
Ways Your Gift Makes a Difference:
- $1,000 = mobile solar array
- $100 = a bike for the bikeshare program
- $25 = 3 chickens
- $15 = one tree planted
- $10 = a compost bucket
- $5 = a pack of seeds for the garden
Some of our CURrENT projects:
- Maintaining the community garden on campus
- Implementing a community bikeshare and employee bike commuting program
- Providing compost buckets to on-campus apartments and dining areas
- Partnering with the Alliance of the Chesapeake Bay to plant over 600 trees on campus
- Using PrintReleaf to offset all the paper used on campus by replanting trees
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- Supporting more sustainable driving with an EV charging station
- Maintaining the Restoration Houses to enhance living/learning community
