Sustainability at Messiah

During the spring, we celebrate the growth and renewal of the earth. We are committed to improving our sustainability practices, and there is hardly a better way for you to contribute to Messiah’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint than giving to the Office of Sustainability.

Ways Your Gift Makes a Difference:

• $1,000 = mobile solar array
• $100 = a bike for the bikeshare program
• $25 = 3 chickens
• $15 = one tree planted
• $10 = a compost bucket
• $5 = a pack of seeds for the garden

Some of our CURrENT projects:

• Maintaining the community garden on campus
• Implementing a community bikeshare and employee bike commuting program
• Providing compost buckets to on-campus apartments and dining areas
• Partnering with the Alliance of the Chesapeake Bay to plant over 600 trees on campus
• Using PrintReleaf to offset all the paper used on campus by replanting trees
• Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
• Supporting more sustainable driving with an EV charging station
• Maintaining the Restoration Houses to enhance living/learning community
