Aug. 31 Update: Thank you to all our supporters who contributed and made Operation Backpack a success this year. A week before school started in late August, 7,455 backpacks were delivered to area schools. Thank you!

During the COVID-19 crisis, we are facing the most critical need for school supplies for disadvantaged children in the 25-year history of our Operation Backpack.

We have seen unprecedented demand for food and emergency financial assistance from our Jerry Doliner Food Bank during this pandemic. We know families who cannot afford food definitely cannot afford school supplies for their children before our  local schools reopen Aug. 31.

We want to ensure every child returns to the classroom with the tools that they need to learn and excel academically.

The Social Services Council of the Jewish Federation has provided more than 117,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to local schoolchildren, regardless of race or religion, in the past 24 years, including 7,753 backpacks last year.

Please consider donating today. We purchase high-quality backpacks filled with school supplies at a wholesale price of $25 each, when they would retail for $80. Best of all, 100% of your donation goes directly to purchase school supplies because the Jewish Federation of Volusia & Flagler Counties pays all administrative expenses. Read more.
