We are running and raising funds to help children with special needs achieve their full potential.

We are the fortunate parents of 4 young children. They taught us much, much more than we will ever teach them somehow. Each in their own way. But one of them has opened up doors to another world. One we used to fear. That child came to us with a ton of challenges, questions, demands. She came as innocent as any baby, yet she was soon labeled. A genetic disorder will do that to you: put you aside from the general population. Without being given a chance to prove who you are.
So we did what parents do: we tried to find a solution. And that's when we came across the NACD (www.nacd.org). This Utah-based association helps families with children like our daughter by designing individual programs to stimulate them in every possible way...with the best therapists ever: their parents. In the comfort of their own houses, extraordinary kids are being given an extraordinary second chance. These families work hard with their children, and usually every single day. The NACD developmentalists are creative, supportive, knowledgeable people who will never take no for an answer. They change people's lives, right at the start. Right when it matters most.
Seven years have passed since we started our own journey. We are now well on our way to brighter days. Our girl is strong, smart, she can read, write, speak 2 languages fluently, rides her bike and swims like a fish...she has proved everyone wrong. But we could not have achieved this without the help of Bob Doman and his team at the NACD.

So, it is time to say thanks and spread hope. My husband and I will be running the Miami ING Marathon (our 1st) on January 27th, 2013. We feel this is a perfect opportunity to raise funds to help another family change their child's future. We hope to help as many families as we can, of course. But our minimum goal is to raise 3,000 dollars. That is enough to help  a child to work for a full year on a special program...that's 365 days of work for a solid chance at a whole different life.

Running 26 miles is no fun work-out...but it took much more efforts to get my daughter to take her first steps. If she could do it, so can we. We thank you with any donation you can afford: little steps or giant leaps are all going towards the same direction: to help achieve a child's (unlimited) potential.
