Michael Bingham
Transplant Type: Bone Marrow
Michael Bingham is awaiting a new lease on life. Thirteen years ago, he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). Since his diagnosis, he has suffered a number of attacks that have caused his body to go numb. On a few occasions, he’s even lost sight temporarily in one eye. His illness is difficult to manage, and he suffers from depression, anxiety, and fatigue as a result. MS runs in Michael’s family, and one of his cousins passed away from complications of the disease. Doctors say that an autologous bone marrow transplant is the best method of treatment to halt his disease. Michael’s transplant is scheduled for June 24, 2019.
During this difficult time, Michael is grateful for the love and support of his family and friends. He looks forward to receiving a transplant that will help put his MS into remission and allow him to live a normal life. When he has flare ups, his activities are very limited, and he can’t wait to be able to be more active again. His health has affected every aspect of his life, and he looks forward to being healthy so he can live life to the fullest. But right now, he needs your help.
An autologous bone marrow transplant costs more than $400,000, and that’s only the beginning. Michael’s insurance will not cover any of his transplant-related costs. In order to receive his transplant, Michael and his family have to come up with $70,000 for out-of-pocket costs. Additionally, Michal will need follow-up care for the rest of his life. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. After his company downsized, Michael has been unable to work due to his health, further adding to his financial burdens.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Michael. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Michael Bingham” on the memo line.
Thank you for your generosity!
