CANstruction is a national charity event where different firms in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction fields design and build a full structure out of canned goods to then be donated to local food banks!
This is Microdesk's first year participating in the event and all food will be donated to the Capital Area Food Bank which is "working to solve hunger and its companion problems" in the Washington DC Metro Area. Here in Washington DC CANstruction is organized by the Washington Architectural Foundation and the AIA|DC.
The theme for 2018 is "CAN't Stop the Beet!", working from that idea Microdesk DC's concept is "Come on Beets do the Loco-Motion: Union Station to Beetsville!" Our structure will have a beet riding a DC Metro train with a backdrop of our main transportation hub, Union Station. Incorporating the DC Metro and Union Station felt very appropriate for Microdesk, as we spend lots of time going through these stations for work as traveling consultants and executives!
We look forward to building our structure and it can be found at the National Building Museum from November 18th to November 25th! Any donations are greatly appreciated, so a big THANK YOU in advance!
