Betsy’s Mission Trip to El Mirador 2019

Part of starting a New Beginning in life requires faith, hope and love.  Faith to know that God has a hope and a future for your life and hope to see those plans come to fruition and love to know that in a fallen world we matter to God and to a community of believers that care to grow together spiritually, socially, and physically  as a community. 

I’m taking a step in that direction again and trusting that God will provide.  I’m joining Harbor of Hope www.harborofhope.org  in March, 2019 in their commitment  through Food for the Hungry (www.fh.org) to partner with the community of El Mirador, in the Dominican Republic.

The community is located in a rural area about an hour north of Santo Domingo, DR. The partnership has the ultimate goal of mutual transformation, both for El Mirador and Harbor of Hope. 

I personally know this is absolutely positive as I have experienced both sides.  

Let me explain! 

I came to know the Lord as a child in Honduras, thanks to the work of a missionary team that brought hope to my little Barrio in the form of a VBS and a movie projected by a slide show into the wall of the building. I became a believer at a young age and I remember it as it was that faith that was planted in me that got me through the next seven years of my life when I became sick and couldn’t walk on my own. 

It has been that same faith, hope and love that has shaped me into the woman I am today.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to be part of another missionary group and that experience was amazing because I had so much to learn from the community and the church at Cercadillo also in the Dominican Republic. It was a time of spiritual growth for me as well.

For those of you wondering, I am also partnering with another church and their efforts to bring a missionary team to Honduras in the near future. But that is only in the planning stages. This missionary trip to El Mirador is ready to go and just needs your full support. 

This requires not only faith in God, love for his ministry but also a time commitment away from my own family as well as a financial responsibility and commitment.
