Mohamed Tahiri

Transplant Type - Kidney

When he was just 9 years old, he was diagnosed with diabetes. In 2011, he learned his kidneys were damaged due to his diabetes and he began to undergo dialysis three times a week. Diabetes also impacted his vision, and he has limited vision in his left eye. Doctors now say a kidney transplant is necessary.

Although this is a frightening time for Mohamed and his family, they are doing their best to stay positive and focused on the future. His mother has temporarily relocated from Morocco in order to care for him. After he receives his transplant, Mohamed looks forward to having more energy so he can go back to work and travel to visit family. But right now, he needs your help.

The average kidney transplant costs approximately $442,000. And that’s just the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. He will also need a lifetime of follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. These medications are very costly, and they’re as important to his survival as the transplant. Because of his declining health, Mohamed had to stop working, adding to the financial strain.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Mohamed. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT North Carolina Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Mohamed Tahiri" on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
