Welcome to Brilliant Detroit's Rock Community Challenge Fundraiser page!
We are Brilliant Detroit, an organization dedicated to building “kid success neighborhoods” where families with children ages 0-8 have what they need to be school-ready, healthy and stable. We do this by purchasing and renovating homes in the middle of neighborhoods, and transforming them into community hubs where we provide access to evidence-based programming in the areas of education, health, family support, and neighbor-to-neighbor connections.
Currently in Detroit, 60% of children under the age of 5 live in poverty and 15.7% of children are reading at grade level by the third grade. Brilliant Detroit seeks to fill the gap in the delivery of programs and services by working with over 50 partners directly on the blocks of our neighborhoods. Together, we will rise as a community by increasing the literacy rates of our youngest children. Image Caption: Two pictures of Brilliant Detroit's Fitzgerald Hub before and after it was renovated. We have 12 home-based hubs and serve about 7,000 children and caregivers annually. However, our work has only just begun and we intend to have 24 houses by 2024 in order to create population level impact. Working "with, for, and by" each neighborhood will always be core to who we are. This model is so important to our work and we intentionally make it our goal to hire individuals from the neighborhoods to work within one of hubs, as well as create advisory boards from members of the community.
Please join our movement today by donating below! Your donation is an investment in a more equitable future where zip codes no longer determine the outcomes of our children. Thank you!
