Marissa is a 1-year-old brown, black, and white hound mix that was surrendered along with her newborn puppies to a shelter in rural Virginia. This poor young mom’s puppies – cute as a button brown, white, black, and tan pups – are barely 6 weeks old, meaning they are at high risk for illness and higher risk of death since they cannot be vaccinated until 12 weeks. A loud, crowded rural shelter with low resources, low foot traffic, and higher euthanasia rates is no place for a nursing mom and her newborn pups.
