The diaper program has had a huge impact. I don't know how to explain it. Diapers are essential, but when you are on a budget, it can be so hard to get all of the things you need to keep your babies healthy. Because of Help a Mother Out, we can purchase more food and other stuff for our kids. It helps a lot. ~ Christie, HAMO client and Mom of 2
Mother's Day is May 12th. This year, we need your support more than ever.
This is a big year for Help a Mother Out - we turn 15! We never would have made it without our amazing community.
Despite reaching this milestone, we have to be honest with you - times are tough right now.
In the last four years, the retail price of diapers has risen roughly 48% and our costs have risen by 22%.
Additionally, we have been very fortunate to have received government funding, but our anticipated FY25 renewal is at risk of falling through. All of this has created a perfect storm that has left us with a budget shortfall, resulting in a situation in which we will not be able to operate at our existing capacity without the help of community members like you.
Help Moms This Mother's Day
Help a Mother Out started with two moms donating their Mother's Day - they had everything they needed and didn't want flowers, or brunch. Instead, they held a drive to get critically needed diapers to local families in need.
As we celebrate our 15th year, we are getting back to our roots and asking our amazing community to join us. This Mother’s Day, will you help us? We would like to ask you to do at least one of the following:
- If you are a mom, consider donating your Mother’s Day to help moms in need with the gift of life-changing diapers.
- Honor a mom or mother figure you love with a gift to HAMO so that more moms have the diapers they need to keep their babies healthy and dry.
- Share this with three of your friends to help spread the word about diaper need and what we can do to end it.
If you have questions about our work and/or how to give, please email emily@helpamotherout.org.
Your gift, no matter the size, will have a huge impact.
At retail price, diapers cost families between $90 and $135 per month per child. By producing our own private-label diaper brand, we can leverage economies of scale, with our hard cost being $60 per month per child. At that rate, think of the impact you could have if you choose to donate your Mother's Day this year!

We are stronger together.
Our government funding might be uncertain right now, but we know the power that our community can have when it comes together. That's why, this Mother's Day, we have set the ambitious goal of raising $50,000. We hope that you will join us in helping to ensure that the most vulnerable families in our community have the diapers they need to keep their babies healthy and dry.
By revisiting our roots and asking you, our community, to consider donating your Mother's Day to help moms in need, we believe we can get through this uncertain time. Any gift you can give, no matter the amount, will have a HUGE impact. We truly are stronger when we work together, and we appreciate you and your support!

Babies who suffer from diaper need can spend a day or longer in the same diaper, leading to increased health risks and developmental delays. Diaper need can also lead to toxic stress for the caregiver, causing depression and posing as a barrier to work or school. The HAMO diaper program helps parents have the diapers they need for their baby without having to cut back on basic necessities such as food and rent. ~ Social Worker, HAMO Community Partner
