$400 goal

This is such a fantastic cause. I was thrilled to participate last yer and I'm equally thrilled to give it a go this year. I have lost of writing to do and I'll be doing a lot of that writing at this event. Donate to help out some wonderful folks. More information below...

I'm participating in an all-day writing marathon on April 20 to getting some meaningful work done and to raise money to support  the Louisville Story Program. Please consider making a pledge! All pledges are tax deductible.

The Louisville Story Program is a nonprofit that partners closely with folks in Louisville whose voices and stories we don't get to hear often enough. With LSP's support, these folks write and publish remarkable books about their lives and communities. The community gets incredible stories, and the authors earn royalties and benefit in other ways from the success of their books. About half of their projects are youth projects, and about half are with adults. LSP has completed five book projects--Our Shawnee, I Said Bang!: A History of the Dirt Bowl, We Can Hear You Just Fine: Clarifications from the Kentucky School for the Blind, Available Light: Louisville Through the Lens of Bud Dorsey, and No Single Sparrow Makes a Summer.  These books collectively feature 62 authors who have earned almost $40,000 from their books.

I'm participating in an all-day writing marathon to support the Louisville Story Program so that they can continue to facilitate these necessary kinds of book projects in our community.

Here's a video about LSP and their work:

To give you a taste of what LSP is like, here's a video about their last book project, No Single Sparrow Makes a Summer:

And here are those authors reading some of their work at the 2018 Festival of Faiths--aren't they amazing?

And here's a video about a very different but equally important  book project, I Said Bang!: A History of the Dirt Bowl, the Crown Jewel of the Most Basketball-Obsessed City in America. This book was authored by 37 people who have helped build and sustain an iconic and beautiful tradition in Shawnee Park for almost 50 years. This book won two national awards from the American Association for State and Local History!

Here's a video about another unique LSP project, Available Light: Louisville Through the Lens of Bud Dorsey:

Here's a video about We Can Hear You Just Fine: Clarifications from the Kentucky School for the Blind, an LSP project that resulted in the world's first professionally published anthology of writing by blind and visually impaired writers:

And here's a video about their very first project, Our Shawnee:

Good stuff, no? Worth supporting, right? Appreciate any and all pledges to help ensure that LSP can continue to bring us more projects like these.
