2021 Summer Camp & Scholarship Banquet

"It takes a village to raise a child" is an African proverb that embodies the Project XL community. The family members of our scholars and the people who participate in our program are the village. Every relative, program partner, donor, and every person who shared or interacted with us on social media is part of our village. Our scholars recognize the support they receive from our family community and  it makes them feel supported and loved by people they have known all of their lives and people they have never met before. 

During the summer of each promotional period (Kindergarten, 5th Grade, 8th Grade), Project XL hosts a banquet where our village honors the scholars in our program. Summer 2021, we will be honoring our Cohort I scholars as they prepare for high school. We will also be introducing our Cohort II Scholars who will be preparing for 1st grade.  Our scholars will be assisting our Cooking with STEAM partners, The Fusion Chefs Catering, with preparing the multi-course meal. The young men will be introduced by the important men in their lives, and will be performing a memorable dance routine with their mothers. There will also be a beautiful tribute to their grandparents. Each scholar will be responsible for selling tickets, but we need the help of the village to make the event truly special.

This #GivingTuesday, we are asking for donations to assist with the cost of our summer program and scholarship banquet. Your donation receipt will be added to our souvenir video as a reminder of how much the community supports our youth.
