Nasaruni Primary and High School in Narok, Kenya enables girls to have hope to continue their education and break the cycle of poverty. Nasaruni Academy for Maasai Girls was established in 2013 by a James Madison University faculty and visiting Maasai teacher/principal, Alice Sayo. Since then, students, community members, and friends have been involved in multiple facets of building and supporting the educational facilities at Nasaruni that now include a primary school, a high school, two dormitories, a kitchen, a dining hall, two ablution blocks, and teacher housing.

These efforts are quite remarkable considering much of this work occurred in the middle of the COVID-19 Pandemic. So far, our efforts focused primarily on the infrastructure to support the needs of our students. Because of our growth, it is time to consider the needs of the teachers and staff to sustain our commitment to excellence and build a formal administration office, teachers’ office, and space for a nurse & clinic.

We are asking YOU to help push us to the finish line to complete the next phase of the high school. Your donation, large or small, will build a path to a better future for Nasaruni girls.

We would like to formally acknowledge the support of Horizons Learning Foundation. A special thank you to Horizons Learning Foundation for their continued support in managing our 501c3 account and helping us ensure a high-quality education for the girls at Nasaruni Academy.
