Hi, my name is Trysta Duerson. I am sixteen years old and I am a sophomore at Edmond North High School in Edmond, Oklahoma. I am severe to profoundly deaf with bilateral Cochlear Implants. I started swimming when I was nine because the YMCA's tennis team was full. I was very disappointed at the time. It was then, I started swimming for the YMCA and I really enjoyed it. At the age of eleven, I moved to the Bison Aquatic Swim Club. It is through Bison Aquatic Swim Club that I found a true love for swimming. I have been able to better my technique and improve my speed and though the partnership between Bison and Crossfit OKC, I also have had the opportunity to cross train with strength training and dryland conditioning. For the past two years I also swam for my high school team and advanced to Regionals and then to the State Championship meet both years. I have been working hard and dreaming of representing the USA. I have had the honor of being selected as 1 of the 16 swimmer to represent the USA at the 2019 USA Deaf World Swimming Championships. It is with your support that I will be able to accomplish my dreams.
