Surpassed our initial goal! But even more is possible!

Update posted 3 years ago

We’ve reached our initial goal, passed our stretch goal, and now have set our sights on plans we didn’t think would be possible this year. There’s even more we can accomplish with your support.

From the earliest days at Liberty Wildlife, we realized that our mission needed to be more than rehabilitation. We began offering wildlife education programs around our community. The creation of our 6 ½ acre Rob & Melani Walton campus of Liberty Wildlife in 2017, brought the opportunity to bring more visitors onsite, and to reach a broader audience.

As we have grown into our space, we realize still more visitor enhancements can help us reach more people with our messages of the importance of wildlife in our lives, and lessons on how to live in harmony with the urban wildlife that share our space.

This project seeks to make several enhancements to our campus for greater access and impact of our educational component of the Liberty Wildlife mission.

First, we are looking to replace signage about each of our non-releasable wildlife ambassadors. The new signs will include QR codes with links to descriptions (in both English and Spanish) about the history of each animal. These descriptions will also explain how that animal came to be in our care, and the role of that species in the environment.

Other enhancements included new security fencing and safety fencing around enclosures, and new enclosures for additional wildlife on our permits. We are looking to add enclosures for our resident bobcat, ringtail cat, coatimundi, and California condors.
