Ozone House is an organization that I am passionate about! I am interning at Ozone House this summer through the U of M Development Summer Internship Program and have seen first hand the incredible impact that they have on the community.

Did you know that up to 40% of youth who are homeless identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, or Questioning. These youth are at higher risk than their peers for bullying, violence, exploitation, and discrimination. The Trevor Project’s 2019 reports states that more than half of transgender and non-binary youth have seriously considered suicide and 71% of LGBTQ+ respondents have reported feeling sad and hopeless for at least two weeks in the past year.

Since 1969, Ozone House has actively developed unique, high-quality housing and support programs and services that provide support, intervention, training, and assistance to runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth and their families. Your gift will help Ozone House’s Kicked Out fund which supports their work specifically with local LGBTQ+ youth. The Kicked Out fund supports their 24-hour Crisis Line, essential to young people in crisis in our community. It also benefits PrideZone, a weekly support group and safe place for LGBTQ+ youth to build community and access services. Because of people like you, the Kicked Out Fund ensures young people receive ongoing care from Ozone's professional counselors, case managers, and youth specialists who work to make certain they have the resources they need to avoid homelessness and secure a better future.

“I love that this is a safe place. I like being able to just talk about LGBTQ things and not have to hide or feel ashamed.” - Ozone House Client
