Witness the here-after; a playroom in a play about 3 souls locked together in the Great Escape Room,

$275

raised by 3 people

$5,000 goal

A conceptual look at three damned souls brought together to live out eternity in the same room -- dispirited by impoverished livelihoods and bolstered by material affluence; a place where misery loves company, somewhere over the inferno.

Your contribution will cover in-part, the operating costs of the production and allow us to sustain Live Garra's vision into 2020.  Most of the expense will be to cover the costs to pay the actors, technicians and staff.  We're sure this will be a great immersive experience for everyone. Thank you again for giving and helping make this all happen.

The show runs from Thursday, November 7 - Sunday, November 24

In this adaptation of Jean-Paul Sartre's one act play, the characters are made present-day and struggle to understand a world that escapes them; realizing their differences, becoming aware of their biases and the grotesque way their image is perceived by one another.  We are all intrinsically linked and no one gets out alive. No escaping the fact that “hell is other people" -- the direct consequences of humankind's ruthless pursuit of life, liberty, lust and love, even in the here-after.

"We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools ... We may have all come on different ships but we're in the same boat now." -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

MISSION: Live Garra Theatre, Inc. endeavors to employ the cultural arts as a way to address universal social-life issues: to ‘live Garra’ (Portuguese for prevail), means to go-the-distance and never give up; to illuminate all facets of a multicultural society; fostering cross-cultural understanding of the many ethnic voices in the community, reinforcing the value of diversity, strengthening the social connections among people.

As a resident company of the Theatre Consortium of Silver Spring, the organization operates out of the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre  as a performance training studio; an incubator for a core repertory of skilled poets, playwrights, and artists, as well as providing a 'safe harbor' for the youth. Live Garra Theatre aspires to fill the void of culturally specific Theatre, preserving the unique legacy of the African-American heritage and contribute to the survival of Black Theatre.
