This summer I go on a journey. A journey to my ancestral lands - England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland. I go to walk upon the soft wet earth that knows a thousand songs of rain and innumerable shades of green and gray. I go to give thanks to the many feet that walked and danced before me; to give thanks to the hands that tended the trees, rivers, muddy earth, and the children who would become future ancestors; to give thanks to the hearts that remembered how to sing even in the misty cold of winter; to give thanks for the sacrifices that were made so that I should be given the gift of a human life. I go because I am blessed to have the choice to go; blessed to be able to say "yes" to the roots and remembrance that calls me.

As part of my journey, I will dance, sing, and pray in a ritual for all our relations and the well-being of this sacred earth, Pachamama. The Long Dance Ceremony is held by Ya'Acov and Susannah Darling Khan of the School of Movement Medicine and one of their teachers, Manari Ushigua Kaji a native of the Sápara people from the Ecuadorian Amazon. I am honored to be a part of the fasting, song, dance, and prayer as well as the fundraising for the remarkable and essential work of the Pachamama Alliance. Moreover, it feels exactly right that my ancestral journey should begin this way: giving thanks to the very earth that bore me and all my ancestors before me.  As part of participation in the Long Dance, each dancer is asked to raise money for Pachamama Alliance or another non-profit organization of our choice. After some research I feel so glad to raise funds for Pachamama Alliance. I encourage you to learn more: https://www.pachamama.org/about/origin All funds raised through this website will go directly toward Pachamama Alliance.

If you feel inspired, please donate to the cause through this website; even a few bucks will go towards protecting the lungs of this earth and thus the lungs of every person and every place you have ever loved.  And, if you think to, send me a little note and let me know how you are. I would love to hear from you.

Many thanks!
