This year, I'm raising reparations for the Uhuru Bakery & Cafe which is set to open in North St. Louis, 3719 West Florissant Ave, THIS SUMMER!

Uhuru Bakery & Cafe is just one of many projects of the African People's Education & Defense Fund that are building political and economic power in the hands of the African working class.

The north side of St. Louis is a predominately African community that has long endured food apartheid with limited access to quality, affordable, fresh foods, healthcare, economic development and the power to feed, clothe and house themselves due to the colonial condition imposed on them.

To address these issues, the African People's Socialist Party and its 501c3 nonprofit, the African People's Education & Defense Fund created the Black Power Blueprint.

Since 2017, APEDF has been acquiring dilapidated properties in north St. Louis and turning them into institutions that are building political & economic power by and for the African community- including a community garden, a community center, a farmers market, a basketball court, a fourplex for the African Independence Workforce Program for Africans coming out of the colonial prison system and more!

Uhuru Food & Pies, which began in 1981 in Oakland, California as part of Black Star Industries, the economic development segment of the Uhuru Movement, is one of these institutions.

It partners with and raises funds for the African People’s Education and Defense Fund, which works to “to defend the human and civil rights of the African community and create programs that speak to the disparities in health care, education and economic development,” according to Board President Ona Zené Yeshitela.

Contribute to my fundraiser and fund the future of liberation for African, Palestinian, Indigenous and all colonized people!
