Camp Starlight “takes away the stress of the year,” one of our 14-year-old campers said in 2019. Each year, Camp Starlight creates a magical, weeklong experience where children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS get a break from the stigma associated with this diagnosis. They're just kids: singing silly songs, playing games with friends, and trying out new things — whether it's rock-wall climbing, horseback riding or eating sloppy joes.

We had to put traditional camp on hold in 2020, and now our campers will have to wait yet another year for that stress-free week of fun. Because of the risk that the COVID pandemic poses to populations with compromised immune systems, we will be holding virtual camp for the second consecutive year.

Although that means we won't incur costs associated with room and board for all our campers and volunteers (camp is free for kiddos to attend), we do have to continue to pay for insurance and other operations costs. We are also distributing to each camp family supplies to do camp activities, such as music and arts & crafts, as well as necessities, such as school supplies. Thanks to generous donors, last year we were able to give each camper a $40 Fred Meyer gift card for whatever they may need.

Our campers are missing their joyful, restorative camp experience, and they need your support! Help us bring the (virtual) magic to campers for one more year.

Camp Starlight is a 501c3 organization (EIN 46-2026430).
