US Friends of AMAR Foundation has teamed with Pilgrims Group USA (and its parent company, Catalyst Group) to evacuate from Afghanistan female judges and prosecutors who are under threat of death and persecution by the Taliban.

Our organizations are part of a team that recently successfully evacuated multiple women (some single, some with kids) from Afghanistan to Pakistan. These women were former judges and prosecutors in Afghanistan and were responsible for upholding and enforcing the law (under the former system) and incarcerating hundreds of Taliban operatives, sex offenders and high-profile criminals. Since the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban, these women have been marked for death. Several of them have been injured, seen their family members murdered by the Taliban in retribution for their work and all of them have been in hiding for more than a year. Through the generosity of donors, and the bravery of our teams, we were able to assist the women and some of their families in evacuating Afghanistan.

But the struggle continues. These women are still living at a very high threat level, even in Pakistan. The funding that secured their escape from Afghanistan has run out and within the month, they will be homeless in Pakistan. The best case scenario for a homeless female in Pakistan is arrest and deportation back to Afghanistan, into the hands of people who would see them killed. Worst case, they are robbed, raped and killed in the streets of Pakistan, or at minimum forced into sex slavery ending in a fate worse than death. These women desperately need your support to ensure that they have safe lodgings in Pakistan until their visas to Europe or the USA can be secured. This process can take up to one year!

Our goal is to raise $320,000 to provide at least the current women a year of lodgings, food, per diems, visa support services, medical, and transportation services. However, our task will not be fully accomplished until we secure safe passage for the remaining prosecutors/judges still in hiding in Afghanistan.

FUNDING

All donations will go directly to the US Friends of AMAR Foundation, a certified US 501(c)(3) organization.

Any remaining funds after all the women have been processed out of Pakistan and into safe, 3rd countries will continue to support the AMAR Foundation and its mission to assist Afghan women and families. Pilgrims Group USA and AMAR Foundation will also work with International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP). IRAP organizes law students and lawyers to develop and enforce a set of legal and human rights for refugees and displaced persons. Mobilizing direct legal aid, litigation, and systemic advocacy, IRAP serves the world’s most persecuted individuals and empowers the next generation of human rights leaders. At this critical moment, IRAP is helping to evacuate allies, at-risk individuals, and their families from Afghanistan through urgent case assistance and time-sensitive legal solutions. At the same time, IRAP is leading advocacy efforts to ensure that the U.S. Government does everything in their power to get allies evacuated to safety. www.refugeerights.org
