The Palisadoes Foundation is lead by a group of technology professionals actively assisting in the development of new approaches to education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for Jamaican residents entering the workforce.
We recognize that Jamaica's economic growth requires diversification from its traditional strengths in the tropical tourism, entertainment and sports sectors. Our programs are focused on making STEM a significant contributor to this goal.
The Calico Challenge, is a three way technical collaboration between The Palisadoes Foundation, the University of the West Indies Computing Society and the University of Technology IEEE students branch in Jamaica. The aim is to provide Jamaican students with the opportunity to work on international open source software projects with a Jamaican flavor. It is a summer internship program with Palisadoes chanelling funding from both individual and corporate sponsors in Jamaica and overseas.
Corporate sponsors for Calico include some of Jamaica's largest technology firms, Jamaican lead startups, and overseas corporations employing Jamaicans or having an interest in working with Jamaica's talent.
Donate to The Palisadoes Foundation and make The Calico Challenge a continued success.
