Parisa Norouzi fundraising for Windcall 25th Anniversary Campaign

If you've been organizing for years, you can reach a moment when stepping back from the work can be the VERY best thing you can do for it. I was one of those organizers in 2010 when I was awarded a Windcall Residency. It was an amazing and transformative experience for me that I think every organizer should have.

I’m writing to ask you to join me in supporting and celebrating Windcall’s 25th Anniversary. My goal is to raise $1500 (100 for every year I've been working as an organizer) by Friday, October 3, 7pm EST. We have a matching gift to get us off to a flying start. Windcall is a movement treasure, dedicated to giving organizers space to renew, reflect and come back to their movements stronger than ever.

When I went to Windcall, I was suffering from severe fatigue and burn out.  Being away for 3 weeks from Empower DC, deep in nature with two other organizers, I got the deep intensive rest that I needed to recover from what had been several years of a stressful work routine.  That rest set the stage for me to open up to better self care practices and to change my relationship with my work, which has led me to become a much more resilient and sustainable organizer.  During that time I also got a chance to dabble in arts that brought me a lot of personal enjoyment.  Completing a piece gave me a sense of accomplishment that I needed, since working on social justice issues often means many years of ongoing struggle.

Your donation will provide Residencies for organizers to benefit as I did. Your donation this week will determine how many organizers have Residencies in this next cycle and support Windcall spreading resiliency practices to organizations on the frontlines.
