Paul Wasielewski
Transplant Type: Kidney
Paul Wasielewski got a new lease on life on December 20th, 2019. In 2017, he was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure. His diagnosis came as a shock, as there is no family history of kidney disease. Paul began dialysis at that time, which left him tired and took a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant was necessary. Paul’s son, Zachary, donated one of his kidneys to save his father’s life. The surgery was performed successfully in December of 2019.
During this difficult time, Paul is thankful for the love and support of his wife of more than 29 years, Stacey, and their family and friends. In addition to Zachary, Paul and Stacey also have a daughter, Maggie. After the transplant Paul has regained much of his active lifestyle. We have been staying close to home but Paul enjoys visiting his kids in their respective cities, home projects, and gardening and look forward to traveling in the future to see other family members.
The average kidney transplant costs more than $442,000, and that’s only the beginning. Our insurance covered most of the transplant costs and the funds from this campaign covered the remaining balance which we are so thankful for all the contributions. Paul will be on anti-rejection medications for the rest of his life and we will utilize these donations to help us with the medical expenses for all the post-transplant medicine and doctor appointments which are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Paul. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT North Carolina Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Paul Wasielewski” on the memo line.
