My name is Ashwin Mittal, and I am a senior at University High School. My brother, Rohan Mittal, and I are hosting a 4 kilometer walk in order to raise funds for resources that cancer patients can use for relief during their treatment processes. This is a major passion of mine because when I was in ninth grade, I had a friend who had a tumor in her lung. I felt helpless because she had to face many challenges that I could never imagine having to go through. Therefore, I always wanted her to have the best care and support during the treatment she was enduring. Whether it be the physical affects from chemotherapy or the endless medication she would undergo, I knew it is very difficult to cope with this at such a young age. She is not the only young individual that has ever had cancer so I want to raise funds for this organization to help others as well. Having this fundraiser allows the Arizona Oncology Foundation to fund more resources to go towards helping the cancer patients with their treatment or possibly even funding projects that could find a cure to the disease. The walk will take place at Brendi Fenton Park on September 11, 2021 from 8-11am starting from Ramada 1. Bottled water and refreshments will be provided after the walk takes place.
