Learning from Lobos: Inspiring the Next Generation to Co-Thrive

Now more than ever, we need to empower the next generation to care, for wildlife, for ecosystems, and for each other.

At the Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery Project, we believe real change begins with education. That’s why we created Learning from Lobos, a dynamic, inquiry-based program that invites participants to not just learn about wolves, but to learn from them. Through storytelling and interactive STEAM experiences, students explore themes like family, resilience, ecosystems, and justice, while building critical thinking, empathy, and environmental stewardship.

By challenging misconceptions about wolves and deepening understanding of their role in healthy ecosystems, this program strengthens the connection between people and the natural world, helping shape a future rooted in coexistence and co-thriving.

Our programs are designed to reach diverse audiences and communities, including:

  • STEM/STEAM Night Activities (K–12) — Hands-on, engaging experiences (Dec–May)
  • In-Classroom Programs (K–8) — Interactive lessons that bring conservation into schools (Feb–May)
  • School Presentations (K–High School) — Connecting science, storytelling, and real-world impact (Dec–May)
  • Lobo Youth Summit (High School & College) — Empowering future conservation leaders through immersive learning
  • Adult & Community Presentations — Building awareness and dialogue around coexistence (year-round)
  • Community Event Tabling — Outreach that connects people to conservation (year-round)
  • Wolf Story Flag Project — A creative, community-driven storytelling initiative

We’re proud to share that this program and the community behind it, was honored as the Flagstaff STEM City Community Partner of the Year 2025–2026, recognizing its meaningful impact on students, educators, and conservation education.

With your support, we can expand Learning from Lobos to reach more classrooms, train more educators, and provide transformative learning experiences that inspire the next generation of wildlife advocates and changemakers.

Together, we can ensure a future where wolves and the people who care for them continue to thrive.
