Run For Westside GSD Rescue

Since 2015 Westside German Shepherd Rescue has been a proud Charity Partner with the Los Angeles Marathon. Our Team has had over 250 runners participate in the LA Marathon, the Charity Challenge Half Marathon, and the LA Big 5K.  Our runners have helped raise over $230,000 for the dogs at Westside German Shepherd rescue, providing much needed medical care, food & toys, and kennel/building improvements. Last year, our team consisted of 52 runners and walkers who — along with our sponsors — raised more than $32,000.

WGSR FACTS: 

• Over 11,000 dogs saved since 2002.
• 185 is the average number of dogs at any one time cared for by the rescue or placed in foster homes.
• We have 50 active and some 200 occasional volunteers who help run the rescue.
• $50,000 is Run for Westside’s Team fundraising goal for the 2020 LA Marathon & Big 5K.
• The rescue is 100% funded by adoption fees and donations.
• $30,000 is the average monthly vet bill, many animals arrive with infections, kennel cough and even serious injuries.
• $1,000 is the average cost to feed, house and care for just one animal until adoption.
