The Washington DC Pro-Duffers Supporting CAFB

The Washington D.C. Pro-Duffer Golf Club (dcproduffers.org)  is proud to support the Capital Area Food Bank to help provide food to nearly 400,000 children and families who face hunger in our region. 

The Pro-Duffers ( Duffers), formed 65 years ago, are a local group of over 90 African American professionals who love the game of golf, as well as helping those in need. As a result of the current COVID-19 Virus, playing golf has been put on hold for a period of time, which led to the GIVE A ROUND fundraising campaign from the membership. The idea is to give what a round of golf would cost and in two weeks we will have raised nearly $5,000 from our members to donate to the Food Bank! As school and workplace closures make access to enough nutritious food even more challenging, these children and working families need our help now, more than ever

GOLFERS PLEASE JOIN THE DUFFERS BY GIVING A ROUND! 

Food donations are currently down over 60% given what is happening in the retail industry, forcing CAFB to purchase millions of dollars-worth of food to keep their inventory levels steady. In March and April, the food bank has purchased 95+ truckloads of food just to keep inventory at “normal” levels; this is roughly double the amount they would ordinarily purchase in an entire year.
