Let's not let Covid-19 derail low-income students' educational journeys. Â
Several college students I know (via my volunteer work) are in families who have lost jobs-- they are in danger of not being able to pay tuition.
Meet Lesly, a student at San Francisco State University, who is facing challenges during the Covid-19 recession. Â She says:Â
"Iâm a third-year college student who used to also work for SFUSD. I live with my mother and brother; we have all lost our jobs because of Covid. I am worried about my family here and also those in Guatemala; it is hard for me to provide for them when Iâm also in need.â
Please know your donation will go the Bay Area Gardeners Scholarship Foundation, where I am a board member.Â
BAGSF has provided 321 scholarships since its inception to deserving first generation college students, most of whom are Latinx, Black, or Asian/Pacific Islander.
A Generous Match: the Latino Community Foundation has agreed to match donations by first-time donors to BAGSF dollar for dollar, up to $5,000 total, if you donate in 2020!
If you can't donate, please share this with others. We all have a part to play to advance racial and economic equity when it comes to higher education!
Thanks,
All of us at the Bay Area Gardeners Scholarship Foundation
